CPI Purchases Trucking Simulator

CPI recently issued a purchase order for a state-of-the-art TranSim IV Simulator for its Transportation Training Center and Commercial Driving Program. The simulator selected is developed and manufactured by MPRI; a world leader is simulator technology. MPRI provides global products and technology for military, law enforcement, and commercial applications.

The TranSim IV Simulator has the following features:

  • An exclusive agreement with Eaton Fuller transmissions. Eaton Fuller transmissions represent over 75% of the US transmission market.
  • Multiple high definition plasma displays
  • Opcon control with IPOD wireless technology
  • Ultra realistic driving conditions and scenarios
  • A pre-programmed skid pad course
  • Adreneline producing pedestrian animation
  • Syncronized video playback and integrated mobile data terminal
  • Superior graphics - including 6X anti-aliasing and 16X anisotropic filtering.

"The TranSim simulator system will offer options, conditions, and scenarios to students that we cannot provide using live equipment" stated Todd Taylor, Director of Adult and Post-Secondary Education. "Not only will our CDL students benefit from exposure to simulator technology, but we envision significant interest and demand for additional training from our local transportation-related industries" stated Mr. Taylor.

Installation of the system is scheduled for March 2010. For more information about the TranSim IV Simulator or CPI's other transportation training programs, contact the Adult Education Office at (814) 359-2793.
